Job Description:

The Wealth Management Finance department is accountable for the major financial functions of TDBG's wealth management business, providing: business planning, financial analysis, measurement, and decision support services. The Wealth Finance team works closely with the business and TDBG's centralized financial expertise to provide quality expertise and advice to their Wealth Management clients, consistent with overall TDBG's financial strategy and objectives. As part of TD Wealth Finance, the Wealth Support Finance team provides dedicated finance support to Wealth National Office and Support groups covering 1600+ employees.

Reporting to the Senior Group Manager Wealth Finance, this role will be primarily focused on forecasting & planning, initiative and decision support to Wealth National Office and Support functions. Key responsibilities include leading the quarterly planning & forecasting process and a team of Finance professionals, providing in depth analytical and decision support for business initiatives and developing strong working relationships with Wealth business partners and stakeholders.

Accountabilities:
  • Leading the quarterly forecasting/planning, and annual medium term outlook (MTO) process including identification, review and validation of assumptions with business partners, development and update of forecasting models, and analyze and present forecasts of Wealth National Office and Support functions
  • Leading Wealth National Office and Support financial and decision support analyses for business cases, initiatives and other special projects and ensuring issues and insights are communicated clearly to all key stakeholders
  • Owning deep dive analyses and developing in-depth understanding of the expenses within the Wealth National Office and Support businesses, including business drivers and optimization opportunities and work with the team to provide insightful and actionable recommendations to the business
  • Proactively identify forward looking business changes and ensure benefits/costs from projects/initiatives are captured appropriately in the Forecast/Plan
  • Proactively identify expense management and productivity opportunities and recommendations to improve efficiency
  • Develop and manage a small team of Finance professionals, including the recruitment of qualified / skilled resources, ongoing training and development opportunities, coaching and performance management activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships across Wealth, including our business and Finance partners
  • Support the Senior Group Manager, Wealth Finance and other team members in responding to and following up on issues, queries and exceptions.
  • Working closely with Wealth business partners (including Finance) to provide transparency on methodology and business rationale behind allocations, and responsible for ensuring appropriate allocation methodology is set during annual Plan process
  • Identify and investigate key financial and accounting issues including timely follow up, escalation and resolution.
  • Exhibiting and promoting high degree of professionalism, passion for the business and intellectual curiosity to drive continuous improvement in quality of deliverables and contribution of value added analyses to Wealth Senior Management and Finance partners
  • Ensuring the team develops & maintains process documentation for all planning and forecasting processes and models including business drivers
  • Participate fully as a member of the Wealth Finance team, promote team effectiveness and contribute to a positive work environment; including cross training with other team members where appropriate.
  • Championing a positive and rewarding team environment where members are able to grow and thrive with a strong focus on sharing and transitioning knowledge

The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong commitment, initiative and drive to continuously exceed expectations and lead change, ability to work with high degree of autonomy, strong technical skills, strong inter-personal skills, effective at problem solving with minimal support and strong organization skills.
  • Experience managing in a fast paced and continuously evolving environment and ability to keep key issues in focus
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills including experience in forecasting and decision support analytics as well as strong financial modeling skills
  • People management experience and proven leadership with the ability to coach and guide a team and ability to lead and influence change
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Experience evaluating business issues, identifying potential solutions and implementing action to resolve issues
  • Detail oriented while still able to synthesize issues and present concise concepts and solutions
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, project management, and problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in a team environment as required.
  • Product knowledge or business experience of Wealth Operations and Vendor would be an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion, Essbase and Oracle would be an asset.
  • Exhibiting high degree of professionalism, passion for the business and intellectual curiosity to drive continuous improvement in quality of deliverables and contribution of value added analyses to Wealth Senior Management and Finance partners

Education and Accreditation:
  • University/College education with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business
  • Business and/or accounting designation preferred or working towards designation (MBA/CFA/CPA)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in finance
