The Financial Crimes Risk Oversight (FCRO) team is accountable for establishing TD's Global Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Program (AML/ATF) to ensure that all TD businesses remain compliant with AML/ATF regulatory expectations in all jurisdictions where TD operates . This includes ensuring that businesses are aware of the legislation under which they are governed and providing guidance, advice, and challenge, as required . The FCRO team is also accountable for promoting regulatory compliance by developing and maintaining AML compliance programs, including relevant training, carrying out independent oversight monitoring and meeting reporting requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
AML FCRO Analyst Intern will support the development and maintenance of a 2nd Line oversight program for the implementation of AML/ATF and sanctions controls in the business lines supported by the FCRO AML team. AML FCRO Analyst Intern will execute controls testing procedures, on behalf of the Head of AML, FCRO, work with business-facing Risk Advisors on the FCRO AML team to assess the effectiveness of AML/ATF and sanctions controls and identify potential areas of improvement for the first line AML/ATF/Sanctions program.
As part of the Monitoring team, the AML FCRO Analyst Intern will help improve the overall culture of AML/ATF and Sanctions compliance by gauging the effectiveness of the AML/ATF controls and provides management with understanding of key issues in their businesses, by:
1. Conducting maturity assessments on multiple 1B teams, which includes assessing the overall design of 1B programs on multiple aspects such as scope, sampling methodology , AML evaluation, reporting and remediation.
2. Conducting ongoing reperformance on multiple 1B teams to ensure key AML/ATF and sanctions controls are designed and operating effectively on an on-going basis. This includes reperforming samples taken from 1B QA AML testing to assess the 1B's effectiveness in their governance and oversight in ensuring controls are effectively mitigating AML risks.
3. As part of the Oversight function, the Monitoring team will assist with Ad-hoc tasks which can include a wide range of issues from our partners as they arise. The Monitoring team will assist with assessing the design and controls for upcoming product offering/changes and procedure changes and confirm if action plans/issue closures are supported through data analytics and validation testing.
These activities provide an individual with depth and experience on effective monitoring and testing. The concepts are so foundational however, can be leveraged not just in the assessment of a testing team but across multiple disciplines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/ Commerce or related field
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school a t the start of your work term
- A curious and inquisitive mindset, with a proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
- Excellent business acumen and good understanding of risk and controls evaluation processes such as those for financial reporting or operations.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Superior writing skills with the ability to draft superior quality assessments/reports, policies, procedures, and business correspondence
- Ability to derive insights from complex data into reports and presentations for dissemination to an executive audience
- Background in First- or Second-Line governance (AML, Compliance, Audit, or Risk) functions
- An understanding of Canadian Personal and Business Banking processes
