Job Summary
The Team
The Child Protection Team in Kelowna has a regular full time vacancy for the Team Leader role. This is an established team that supports both Indigenous and non-Indigenous families in the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. This position will supervise up to ten (10) employees who are passionate about ensuring children, youth, and families are safe and have strong and collaborative connections to the community.
The Family Services Team in Penticton has a full time temporary opportunity for the Team Leader role. This team supports both Indigenous and non-Indigenous families in Penticton and surrounding areas. The Team Leader supervises up to ten (10) employees who are dedicated to offering support and services to children, youth, and families in BC.
The Role
In this role, you will provide direction, leadership, and support to staff, guiding them on interpreting Acts, regulations, standards, and procedures. You will plan, implement, and manage a collaborative approach to ministry programs and services, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies. Your dedication to excellence will help create a motivated team that delivers high-quality services to clients, directly impacting their overall experience and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements
1. Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
- A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
2. Expanded Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

- Six (6) or more months experience supervising staff in a job specific role (includes supervising staff who work with and plan for children and youth in a child and family service agency that provides legislated services (child protection, guardianship, resources, family support or adoption)).
- Currently hold or eligible for full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
